Warm Weather

I think I love spring even more this year. Warm weather means walks, playing outside, and Mark coming home in just 2 months!
It has been so nice the last few days which is a welcome change from the snow we had just over a week ago. David and I have been going on walks and just sitting outside in the grass playing. David loved pulling the grass, shaking it, and just enjoying the fact that we could be out there without a jacket on.

The sun might have been a little bright, but it made for some cute faces :-)

On Sunday, Vierra came to visit. She and her daughter are from Russia and have been in the United States for...I'm going to say at least 10+ years and have known the Distelhorst family for quite a while. Her daughter lives in California with her husband and their child, but Vierra lives not to far away in Missouri. Anyways, she came over for dinner on Sunday and said David looked like me. I was flattered, but then I showered her a picture of Mark and it all changed. Haha.

David loved playing with her. He would just laugh and laugh while she played with him.

I have more to write but I need to get pictures off of Katies camera, I guess I really need to get around to doing that. Hope you are having a fantastic week!

Proud to be an American

We live in a great country, unfortunately freedom isn't free. I'll start by saying that I think it is beyond wrong to protest outside of a fallen soldiers funeral. They died to protect our freedoms, but really, it is not necessary to be there.
Zachary Cuddeback was killed in a terror attack on March 2 in Frankfurt, Germany. He grew up in my little town of O'Fallon, and thus was to be buried here. Flags were placed along the route his remains would travel to his final destination. I cannot even begin to tell you the emotions I had running through my body that night as we stood in support of this young airman, the families of soldiers across the world, and their families.

You can click here to read a little more about this. It was an incredible feeling to take part in this; the silence that filled the streets as the procession begun, the humbling reminder that we are fortunate enough to live in a great nation, worship how we please, the freedom to act and speak, but again, remember, freedom did not and is not coming easy.

Treasure your loved ones, enjoy each minute as if it were your last, and thank a soldier.

Cousin Love

Amy & Randy took a quick anniversary get away for the last 3 days. Dana has been watching Kennedy, but they come over here and play with David during the day. I really will miss being close to family and having a cousin close by for David to play and grow up with. (Uh, I guess since I am saying this on the blog it makes it more real that we really are moving back to Idaho...hopefully we'll be able to get together with John, Julie and their girls in Washington though). Anyways, here are some pictures of David and Kennedy.

Tonight, Kennedy was over. I taught her how Marley (their dog) eats. It was hilarious!

It was getting late for Kennedy, so I offered some of Davids pajamas and an overnight diaper. Again, it was hilarious...and cute!

Oh, last night, I took my Beehives to visist and older sister in our ward. I love these girls, they keep me on my toes and make me laugh! This is a poor quality picture, but I still wanted to post it.

Hope you all are having a great week so far. Hug your loved ones, and remember freedom isn't free.

Sonic Good

Lets take a break from the battle of cats. This past weekend we had Stake Conference. After the adult session on Saturday, my mother in law had an ice cream social after for the Single Adults (30+). I offered to run to Sonic to get the ice for her. She had me some money and told me to get something to eat as well. By the time I drove through it was getting close to Davids bedtime so he was getting a little cranky, so I didn't check the bag. I drop the ice off, get home, put David to bed, and then sit down to enjoy my hot dog. One minor problem, in the bag there the tater tots sat, but no hot dog :-(
So I called Sonic and James picked up. (I have no idea who James is, however, I talked to him a handful of times.) Anyways, I explained the situation to him, he apologized and said to come in tomorrow (Sunday) and he would buy lunch. Well, I felt guilty even thinking about going in on Sunday, so I called him again and said I wasn't going to be able to make it in. He said not to worry, and to come in any day this week. By Tuesay, I went in. James took care of lunch and I drove on my way.
Too often we are quick to complain, and not say anything when someone goes above and beyond. So, I wrote a quick thank-you to Sonic, kudos to you! So next time you need/want a drink, head on over to your local Sonic.

Anything you can do...

...I can do better (is what the cat is saying to the dog.) Are you getting sick of the ongoing battle between Katie and I on cats? Lucky for you...I'm not :-) Animal Planet says it best...

"The truth about cats versus dogs is a hot-button debate that rages on, even if cat lovers know that their darlings swept to victory long ago. For cats, it's no contest: Their inspired playfulness and independent spirit are the secret envy of some humans, many of whom wish they could spend their own days batting at a catnip mouse and napping in the sun rather than tapping a computer keyboard. Even some die-hard dog lovers have inched toward the light of the feline side, drawn by their low-maintenance lifestyle and excellence as lap decorations. Why do cats best dogs? Here's a pawful of reasons."

But first, a picture just to make you laugh:

1. Cats treat your guest politely (they will not jump all over like a mad dog, eh, I mean man)
2. Cats smell better than dogs
3. Cats are funnier than dogs
4. Even the loudest cat is quieter than any dog
5. Cats are natural insect repellent (I especially like this one)
6. Cats take much better care of their toys
7. Cats dont need to be walked
8. Cats enjoy bringing gifts to their loved ones
9. Cats and laser pointers: entertainment today, tonight and tomorrow (or anytime)
10. Cats purr when they are happy...or hungry

So tell me, are you a cat person now that you read this list? Dont get me wrong, I like dogs and will one day own one...however, the cat will come first.

"That Darn Cat"

Katie was oh so kind to dedicate a post as to why she does not want a cat, so I thought I would return the favor with a "Top 10 list for wanting a cat" (compliments of google...they even want her to get a cat :-)

1. Cats are more independent
2. Cats don't need sitters
3. Cats bathe themselves
4. Cats don't need haircuts
5. Cats are more content in general
6. Cats aren't as demanding
7. Cats pace themselves when they eat
8. Cats aren't as loud
9. Cats go in a litter box and don't have to be taken for a walk
10. Cats dont mind being home alone

But I guess I can see Katies fear that she would get a cat and it would look like this:

(Scary, but none the less cute)

Hope you all have a fabulous week and enjoy the ongoing "battle of wits!"

9 month stats

David had his 9 month well baby check up today. I didn't think the babes got shots at this appointment so I was feeling pretty good. Fortunately my friend Ashleigh mentioned that her baby got shots so I was a pre-warned (Thanks!) I'm pretty sure it is a catch up shot day and since they were out of one of the vaccinations at his 4 month appointment, he got it today. But it was just one and he did great! He cried and as soon as we picked him up, he was good. His stats are:

Weight: 19.15 pounds (50th %)
Height: 29.5 inches (85th %)
And for whatever reason, I never remember the head circumference. I do remember it was in the 75th percentile.

And what is a post without a picture? David absolutely loves his Aunt Katie and this picture captures it pretty well.

What the?

Once again, I looked at the monitor when David was sleeping and this is how I found him:

The changing table is connected to the crib so the end where the bumper is pulled out, there is not a place to tie it on. I've thought about taking the bumper off completely, but as you can see he sleeps right up next to it sometimes and he loves to pull it/grab it. Oh well, it's not hurting him so I will probably just leave it on for now.

Our little Mozart

David fortunately has some musically inclined aunts and they have taught him how to play the piano.

Isn't he so cute? He will be 9 months tomorrow so I will update with the stats after his appointment.
