Pitiful

David and I had quite the night last night. He decided to wake up screaming (like a painful scream) at about 1oPM and 3AM. It was no fun. After trying to calm him down for almost 40 minutes he and I went on a drive. It just stopped the screaming, but didn't put him to sleep. Fortunately, he did fall asleep on his own shortly after.

Then at about 3AM, he screamed, I rocked him, and he eventually fell asleep.

So, back to the Doctor we went today. Basically, he has his 3rd ear infection. Poor baby.

Here's to more sleep, a happy healthy baby boy, and to the next 3.5 weeks going fast :-)

Elvis Do

It's no secret David has great hair and lots of it! Mark wants me to cut it, however, when I trim the hair over his ears (which I have done a handful (or 2) times) Davids doesn't sit still and wants to know what I'm doing and therefore doesn't sit still. It is quite the task. So, when Mark comes home (which will be very soon!!!) we will take him for a hair cut, Mark can hold him, and I will take pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Until then, I will play with Davids hair and you will smile because he is just so cute...or maybe thats just me :-)

Easter Bunny 2011

Oh, it really is so fun to have a child around the Holidays. Madeline and I were walking around the mall on Thursday when I saw none of than the Easter Bunny! I looked at Madeline and told her we had to come back!
I don't know what it is, but some of these characters are straight up creepy looking. Fortunately for me, David was easily entertained and content with an Easter egg. Whew.

Geez, I just love that kid! Hope you all are enjoying your Easter weekend. Hug your loved ones :-)

New Experiences

A little while ago we had our bi-weekly dinner group with the Gardners. Katie found a 4 layer spring cake, like this. It was delicious. Anyways, on to the point of the story. Growing up, we would put our piece of cake in a bowl, then pour milk over it. Mm..even better! Well, when I did this at the Gardners, there was some controversy and disgust about this. So, I decided to make a 7 layer chocolate cake (with chocolate filling and frosting!) and invite people over to try it.

Above is the about half of the group (Melissa, Madeline, Me, and Brittany). Let the fun begin...

Their faces pretty much say it all! Out of the 7 people who tried for the first time, I am happy to say that I have converted 3 of them! Brittany really liked it, Ben said he felt like he was 95 years old and in a nursing home. Haha.

Even still, I would recommend trying it; you never know it might change your life ;-)

Just one?

David loves to pull the bin of toys over and either sit there and play with all the toys or crawl across the room to either the other toys or into other rooms. He's a fast little one too!

And with a face like his, its incredibly hard (I'm even going to go as far as saying it's impossible) to not love him!

He has also discovered that if you pull hard enough, the kitchen cabinets will open. Whether he is in his excersaucer or just crawling around, he likes to explore...nothing is safe anymore :-)

Snugle time

David was the most snuggly baby...however, with his new found love of crawling and getting into and wanting everything, it doesn't happen for as long as it use to. However, every now and then you can get a good snuggle in.

Katie was lucky enough to be holding him when the moment struck.

It also probably helped that it was about bedtime and a movie was in. You can also see how much Mark, Katie and David all look alike in these pictures. Mark turned out to be a handsome young man and Katie has turned out to be a beautiful young woman, so I have high hopes for our kids!

Wannabe

Interesting title to the post, huh? Well, it all has to do with yesterdays events.

The picture says it all. I ran (uh, and walked) a 5k in Trenton, IL. It was freezing cold and rainy, but nonetheless, I did it! And I'm doing another one next Saturday!

I can't even tell you how badly I want to be a "runner." Some of my motivation comes from Coach Katie. She was great. Although, we did have some conversations that went along the lines of "Rachel, you have to run to that stop sign and then you can walk." "Katie, I'm not coming to your wedding!" Haha, no these don't sound nice, nor do they go together, but it got me across the finish line in 39 minutes!

So thanks Katie! She was also my right hand woman. When my ipod was having issues at the end, I gave it to her, as well as my gloves. I also couldn't have done it without Lindsay! She and I go walking together and it's great! Her husband and cute baby Chloe were along the way cheering us.

All in all, I'm glad I did it. Here's to hoping my knee holds up and allows me to become a real runner!

Later that night we got cleaned up -and showered!- and headed off to a wedding reception for a couple in the Singles branch.

David spent a good portion of the evening with the various members of the Young family. I am so grateful for them and the others who do so much for David and I.

Congrats Christ & Kristina! Welcome to the "married club" :-)

Shoes

David has a small shoe fetish. More specifically he loves the laces. I'm more or less okay with this, until he tries to eat the shoe. Either way, I just wipe his hands more frequently and tell him "we don't eat shoes"

Put on your happy face

David seriously is growing into such a handsome little man. He is beginning to look less like a baby. I can't believe that we are not even two months away from him being 1. He also decided to say "MAMA!" on Friday night. It just melts my heart when he says it.

Fish Out of Water

I had a "proud mom" moment today when David decided to...

CRAWL!! Haha, these videos aren't super great (I'll bust out the video camera soon), but I had to capture it.

Ducks, Grass and some sunshine!

I am loving this weather! I hope and pray it stays around...and longer for more than a day or two. We've been going on walks and sitting out in the grass playing. Even though he was wearing pants, he got a couple of bug bites on his upper thighs.

This is my favorite picture from yesterday, I just love him!

Father and Son

It's no secret that Mark is a huge Cardinals fan. Vivian made a nice Cardinals blanket for the Distelhorst family. Mark likes it...and David loves it. He likes rolling around in it/on it.

10 months

Oh my gosh, where has the time gone? If you had asked me 8 months ago how I was going to do this, I would told you I would have been fine and that David would keep me busy. And he sure does, but I am grateful to be able to stay home with him.

David is 10 months old, which in and of itself is exciting, but it is even more thrilling because it means that Mark will be on his way home for R&R in roughly 7 weeks! Ahh!

I just love that face! It is hard to not start the day happy when you wake up to this! I also love those thighs. Haha. David now weighs 21 pounds...he is growing and closer and closer to crawling everyday!

Conference 2011

Conference is so great and has even better messages to help us remember our Savior is always there for each of us, no matter what. David rolled around, rocked on the knees, enjoyed some lunch, but I'm sure somewhere in all of that, he listened too :-)

Fortunately, Katie was able to provide ample entertainment, with her watch...

...to her hair

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend, lets hope Spring decides to make an appearance soon, and stay around :-)

Splish Splash...

...I was taking a bath...with my cousin! Kennedy came over tonight while Amy went to see a friends play. Normally when Kennedy comes over and I am giving David a bath she points upstairs and says "ba ba." Well, tonight was her lucky night because she and David got to take a bath together. They were pretty funny and seemed to love to have someone else in the tub to play with.

Too bad we couldn't get them both to look at the camera at the same time.

David has been trying so hard to crawl, and I am hopeful he will get all the mechanics figured out in the next little bit. Keep in mind, Mark didn't crawl until he was 10 or 11 months old. Seeing as how David is a mini Mark, and is following in his footsteps, I have a feeling he is going to do the same.

In between trying to crawl and getting his top teeth, David has also been battling a double ear infection. Poor kid. Fortunately, he has been pretty happy with little spouts of fussiness.
